A NOTE FROM MURMUR
I didn't start Murmur
because I wanted to build
another social app.
01WHY I STARTED THIS
We type too much.
Sometimes I don't want to write a perfect sentence.
I just want to say something.
Murmur started from a simple feeling -- the best thoughts aren't always typed. They're spoken.
A quick thought.
A random idea.
A feeling you can't quite structure.
A voice note just feels more honest to me.
02WHY VOICE
Some things sound different
when you say them.
A voice carries more than just words.
- It carries hesitation.
- It carries energy.
- It carries silence.
- It carries emotion.
- It carries a little bit of the person.
03BUILDING MURMUR
I'm building this myself.
There have been versions that looked terrible.
Ideas that didn't work.
Things I've rebuilt more times than I want to admit.
But that's part of it. This isn't a straight line.
It's a process of:
trying,[ v0.1 ]
breaking,[ v0.4 ]
learning,
and trying again.
04WHAT I WANT MURMUR TO FEEL LIKE
I don't want Murmur to feel like
another app asking for your attention.
I want it to feel like a quiet place for real thoughts.
Private. Personal.
Not a feed. Not performance.
Not pressure.
Not a feed. Not performance.
Not pressure.
Just a more human way to capture what's on your mind -- and find it again when you need it.
05A SMALL NOTE TO YOU
If you ever use Murmur,
I hope it doesn't feel like another place where you have to perform.
I hope you can just say something.
A thought, a feeling, a moment --
however imperfect it is.
Building Murmur.
